DESCRIPTION The study-unit shall comprise the following topics: Sources and uses; Technical farm records; Farm costs and depreciation; Cash flows; Gross margin; Output; Farm reports; Inventory management; Break even; Market analysis; Supply relationships.

Study-unit Aims:

To provide a framework within which students of this course could manage a realistic accounting system to assist the decision making process in a farm as well as prepare and analyze activity reports.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

1. Understand the factors implied in the management of a farm.
2. Understand the balance of this activity vis-a-vis expenditure and profits.
3. Understand the different aspects of management in terms of anima husbandry and crop production.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

1. Follow good management practices as applied on the farm.
2. Evaluate the needs and threats on a farm both scientific and economically.
3. Determine the best analytical methods to be used for the condition/case at hand.
4. Prepare reports that are relevant to the activity in question.
