DESCRIPTION The Old Testament and the New Testament of the Bible together bridge particular issues that form the foundations of theological, ethical and spiritual issues. In this study-unit one such issue every occurrence of the unit is taken up and studied from its various biblical angles.

In this study-unit, students will be able to research themes in Scripture studies that bridge the Old and New Testaments and to categorize the arguments within the different blocks of literature in the same Testament.

Study-Unit Aims:

- Particular biblical issues are presented as found in the different blocks of the Bible;
- The presentation of the different perspectives from which select issues are tackled in the different blocks of the bible, e.g. life and death issues, the afterlife, reward and punishment;
- The depiction of how particular issues in the Bible are tackled in different Scriptural books.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- formulate the way specific theological issues as they are presented in the books of the Bible, e.g. salvation, justification, discipleship;
- systematize and integrate the way the above theological issues are dealt with in the different blocks (sections) of the Bible, as e.g. Prophetic literature, Wisdom Literature, the Pauline corpus, etc.;
- compare, contrast and correlate issues within the Bible as they are reflected within the Bible as a whole.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- interpret biblical texts for their contribution to theological, ethical and spiritual select themes;
- discuss particular theological issues from the biblical perspective, both from individual books as well as from the Bible as a whole;
- synthesize biblical perspectives concerning particular issues and relate them to theological, ethical and spiritual areas.
