DESCRIPTION This study-unit helps student-teachers acquire the skills needed for the adequate pacing of content and lesson planning in order to teach business education in mixed-ability, multicultural and co-educational settings. Assessment issues are discussed from a theoretical perspective and the preparation of assessment tools for business subjects is embarked upon. The development of educational activities and resources is also addressed.

Study-Unit Aims:

This unit aims to:
- equip student-teachers with the necessary skills enabling pacing of content, lesson planning and resource preparation required to teach business education in mixed-ability settings,
- provide a wide range of skills to teach, support and assess students,
- enhance a range of skills to devise creative educational activities and resources, and
- sensitize student teachers on a number of contemporary issues underlying business education.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- recognise initiatives which present opportunities for learning business subjects,
- propose learning events according to the characteristics and needs of the learners,
- demonstrate that the nature of the subject impinges upon the nature of the learning events,
- identifying and writing specific learning outcomes, aligning them to instructional planning,
- discuss assessment issues from a theoretical perspective,
- recognise the various assessment tools and how to use them with students.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- devise meaningful learning events for teaching business education,
- create good quality educational resources,
- employ and adapt community events/resources for educational purposes,
- devise good quality assessment tools,
- prepare feedback for learners and their guardians in a systematic manner,
- formulate strategies to support learners.
