DESCRIPTION This study-unit has two main foci, one hand it investigates post secondary curricula whilst on the other hand it explores lifelong Computing education opportunities. Computing Education is pervasive in a number of scenarios outside the school walls, be they after-school clubs, Software vendor ICT training as well as Digital literacy training.

Teaching such courses offers a different challenge to the Computing Educator from the one offered whilst leading a school based curriculum. In this unit students will be introduced to a variety of academic computing curricula and vocational training courses beyond compulsory education. The pedagogy required for such courses will be illustrated through a number of local and international case studies.

Study-Unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to introduce the pre-service educators:
- To leading after school clubs by reviewing the work done in the Computer Clubhouse - a model after school learning environment where youth are inspired to think about themselves as competent, creative and critical learners.
- To lead digital literacy and vendor specific technical training classes aimed at adults.
- To design courseware aimed at the adult students.
- To design and/or adapt resources such as webquests, worksheets, screencasts for post secondary and professional adult students.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Demonstrates knowledge of approaches that can be used to lead after school Computing clubs.
- Describe approaches that can be used to encourage peer sharing.
- Show an awareness of the multiple roles that mentors can take when leading after school clubs.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Design courseware aimed at an adult student about Digital Literacy and/or Computational thinking.
- Create pedagogically sound activities aimed at out-of-class environments.
- Create resources which allow adult learners to perform self-assesment.
- Create/ Adapt resources which the students can use to learn at their own pace, in their own time.
