| DESCRIPTION | Working with young people can be both very rewarding and at the same time, very challenging. In order to deliver the best possible service, an organisation depends on a good managerial structure and arrangement. This study-unit will focus on diverse aspects related to the management of interpersonal and organizational issues, including change management, conflict resolution and leadership styles conducive to the dynamic nature of contemporary youth and/or community work organisations. Course participants will also be expected to evaluate their on-going practicum they are committed to undertake as part of their course obligations. The objective of this placement is in gaining familiarization and critically appraising practical organisational styles. Study-unit Aims: By the end of the Ministry Placement students should be able - engage with the complex dynamics of an organisation. - to plan and work jointly with other agencies. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: review critically various theoretical approaches to the management of organisations and to evaluate their usefulness in youth and community settings. understand human resource management legislation in relation to the management of voluntary community and youth organisations. understand quality assurance methods and the ability to use monitoring and evaluation techniques with a view to improving performance and quality of service delivery.understand theoretical approaches to the management of change and development in organisations. 2. Skills (including transferable [generic] skills): By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: develop and manage community and youth work projects within a contract culture. develop appropriate change intervention strategies according to the context, problem and change objectives.
