| DESCRIPTION | This unit is for students who wish to acquire some basic knowledge concerning Poland and the Polish language. At the beginning of the unit a non-formal assessment of students' skills will be made in order to make sure that the discussed topics meet their level. During the course, work in groups will be conducted. It will allow the student to practice the use of the new vocabulary in case of the realistic situations proposed by the tutor. Learning objectives: • To introduce students to the basic facts concerning Poland; • To introduce students with the basic information concerning Polish traditions and customs; • To teach students how to communicate in a very basic level; • To introduce students to the basic information concerning Polish grammar. Unit material: Appropriate unit material will be provided by the tutor during the sessions. There is no required course book, although the tutor may recommend some additional materials which would allow student to improve their skills. Assessment: There is no formal assessment associated with this course. On the other hand, the tutor may conduct various practical exercises which will allow to evaluate students' progress. A certificate of attendance and of satisfactory completion of the unit will be provided at the end of the semester. |
