DESCRIPTION Lacrosse originated in Northern America and consists of 2 teams of 10 players each. It is a fast-paced, explosive, and competitive team game. Each player carries a lacrosse stick in which one can carry the rubber ball with it. This game aims to get the ball into the net, to do this the ball needs to be held by the lacrosse stick. With the lacrosse stick, one can run, carry, catch, shoot, and pass the ball with the net of the stick.

This sport involves high intensity, teamwork, endurance, and discipline. One’s participation in this sport can improve their fitness, strategic planning, reaction, and communication.

Tag Rugby is a non-contact team game which was introduced in the 1980s. It consists of 2 teams of 7 players each. Tag rugby is an explosive team game where fitness, agility, reactions and teamwork are tested and constantly being improved.

Unit Material:

Appropriate unit material will be provided by the tutor during the sessions.

Assessment:

Attendance is obligatory and students need to have a minimum of 50% attendance.

In keeping with the spirit of Degree Plus, there is no formal assessment associated with the unit. A certificate of attendance and of satisfactory completion of the unit will be provided at the end of the semester.

Note: Degree plus units are not designed to be incrementally burdensome in terms of the many academic demands placed on students during their undergraduate years.
