| COURSE OVERVIEW |
This programme is intended for qualified teachers who would like to enhance their professional training by pursuing specialisation in the area of Teaching Maltese as a Foreign Language. The course shall extend over a period of three years of part-time study. A relevant number of study-units will be offered every semester and the eligible applicants may register as visiting students for individual study-units and obtain credit for them. The programme of study is assigned 30 ECTS credits, and a small number of options are offered for applicants depending on their teaching context and experience. Applicants may or may not already have experience in the Teaching of Maltese as a Foreign Language (TMFL). |

| LEARNING OUTCOMES |
By the end of the course the student will be able to: 1. Critically appraise teaching methodologies relevant to foreign language teaching. 2. Create and evaluate resources for the TMFL. 3. Develop and implement lessons in MFL. 4. Access, adapt and implement national and international written and other documents relevant to TMFL. |

This course serves as accellerated progression as per sectoral agreement. It supports the immediate and professional needs of teachers. |

Teachers who are either already teaching MFL, or who would like to offer their services in the area. |

ADMISSION AND PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS |
Applicants may be registered as students on the Course if they are in possession of at least a SEC pass in Maltese at grade 5 or better and of: (a) the degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) or (b) a first cycle degree together with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education or (c) a first cycle and/or second cycle degree or higher and a permanent teacher’s warrant or (d) any other recognized teaching qualification together with a permanent teacher’s warrant. The Board shall recommend to Senate the number of applicants that may be allowed to register on the Course, depending on the availability of resources. The number of available places shall be announced at the time of the call for applications. When the number of places is so limited and the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available places, applicants will be selected using the following criteria, the weighting of which shall be published at the time of the call for applications: (a) degree type and classification (b) work experience and (c) performance during an interview, if required. The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three members.
The admission requirements are applicable for courses commencing in February
2019.
