Abstract: Research in the field of family budgeting is almost non-existent locally. The main aim of this research study is to explore the contribution of Maltese women in family household budgets. A questionnaire was conducted with 50 female professionals and 50 female manual workers. This questionnaire identified differences and similarities in family budgeting practices, as well as other factors that need to be considered when a family budget is made, the style and format of spending plans utilised and the evaluation process involved. In this study, it has been recognized that the rate of women’s contribution to a family budget is increasing especially when dealing with female professionals. The results confirmed that there should be more awareness among the general public on the importance of family budgeting. For this reason, three main interactive resources on the theme of family budgeting were produced targeted for the general public. Positive response on the developed resources and its content was received from those who participated in the trialling process.
