Abstract: The aim of this research work is to study the enhancement of the reading and writing skills of highly motivated students studying French as a foreign language. A blog, in the form of a writing club, was created, which operated for one and a half months (November – December 2014). A number of selected teachers took part in this project, who were asked to identify very motivated students. A preliminary discussion dealt with the methodology of writing skills with the use of ICT. Another discussion tackled gifted education. Education officers as well as the Head of Department of the French language were also contacted to be interviewed on gifted education. The blog was updated consistently. The participants, coming from different schools in Malta, published their work online through an anonymous profile which was created specifically for every one of them. The participants also had the opportunity to view other people’s work and leave constructive comments as they wish. As regards the research methods, a bibliographic research was employed in order to delve into the subject and examine it thoroughly. Furthermore, two questionnaires directed to the participants were created – these were completed prior to and following the running of the writing club respectively. Before the operation of the blog, a number of meetings were held with the teachers in question and the participants individually, explaining the process. After the running of the blog, a number of meetings were held again to analyse the teachers’ and the participants’ opinions and reactions about this project.
