This volume marks the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Malta. While the anniversary offers a chronological point of reference, the contributions collected here approach the Malta – Holy See relationship as a historically sedimented and conceptually complex field in which questions of sovereignty, authority, and religious mediation are continuously negotiated. The volume thus situates itself at the intersection of diplomatic history, political theology, and post-colonial critique.
