Abstract: Disparity exists between what is built and what is preached about modern architecture, especially with respect to honesty to building materials. The objective of this paper is to show how the use of limestone in post-war British architecture stands in relation to the notion of 'truth '. This disparity is brought out with reference to Pugin's theory.
