| Abstract: | The aim of this research was to study how children are being influenced by the constant use of technology, both at school and also in the home environment. Through overt observations, the researcher analysed how technology was being used in schools both by teachers in lesson delivery and also by students in mastering skills to work on tasks assigned to them. Additionally, through questionnaires for both Year 4 pupils and their parents/guardians, it also studied whether children were being exposed to technology at home and hence highlighted how it was used and for what purposes. Furthermore, interviews were held with Year 4 classroom teachers to determine their objectives behind the use of technology and their perception towards its use. From the results obtained the study outlined the impacts of technology on children, with suggested ideas of what can be done to prevent them from certain hazards that can result from its constant use. Moreover the parents’/guardians’ and teachers’ perceptions of technology use were discussed, while other technological gadgets that can further enhance learning, as pointed out by teachers were included. All of this information was accompanied by relevant literature, after conducting a close study on literature before the preparation of observations, questionnaires and interviews. |
