Abstract: Although he was commonly referred to by the Holy See as the "Inquisitor," all the official documents of his office in connection with trials, edicts or diplomatic declarations almost always mentioned his double role as Inquisitor and Apostolic Delegate. The Apostolic See did not fail to remind him that his mission was not limited to the direction of the Holy Office in Malta and that these two roles where combined.
