Abstract: | This research study focuses on the social networking site, Facebook, and how it is affecting the interaction, personal experiences and social performances of University students, both in their offline and online life. It provides a rich understanding of how University students perceive this social network, engage as members and make use of it. Through the application of qualitative methods this study gives an in-depth analysis on diversified themes that are in relation to Facebook use, namely: identities and the presentation of the self, gender patterns, social capital, power and surveillance, privacy concerns and the fragmentation of time and space. |
