Abstract

The sheer geographical proximity of Malta to Sicily, a mere sixty miles to the nearest land, must be of the utmost relevance for several phenomena common to the two countries. Yet, the stretch of water, however narrow, remains a divide between the two islands and must similarly account for several of the differences.
