| Abstract: | The aim of this term paper is to discuss the regulation of the Fantasy Sports sector in Malta. Fantasy Sports have been around for decades. In the early 1960s, it was simply a competitive contest between a small group of friends who would play more for enjoyment rather than for spoils. This has nowadays developed into a billion dollar industry, especially with the advancement of modern technology and with the Internet becoming one of the world’s greatest phenomena in the past century. Fantasy Sports have evolved exponentially. The most outstanding element of the Fantasy Sports game is the skill of a player since this will affect the outcome of a game. In view of this it became apparent that games of skill need a separate legal recognition in Malta. |
