Issue Date: 2011
Abstract: The study will analyze both potential positive effects as well as the possible negative effects of exercise and sports on the body. It reveals how every person can improve or maintain his health and well being through exercise or sports regardless of age, gender, physical fitness level or ability. Topics such as the influence of media, elite athletes, safety and injuries are areas of discussion in this study. The research method is based on interviewing three doctors specialized in sports and exercise medicine. Qualitative research is adopted for this research and therefore semi-structured and open-ended questions are used. The main finding in this study is that the positive effects outweighs the negative effects, however we cannot neglect the latter. Other findings are about safety and how crucial it is to avoid injuries and how the media is influencing sports and exercise participation in our society.
