| Abstract: | This chapter is the second of two in this volume that focus on youth employment and education in Libya, bringing to the table the views of an external consultant that complement those of the local educator and build upon them. The study presented here was carried out in the period immediately before the revolution of 2011, and continues to raise issues that may have had some bearing on the role of youth in what has occurred. It was the first time career planning and education for the employment of Libyan youth had been studied systematically and empirically. The focus was on students of transition grades 9 and 12, parents, and teachers. A separate labourmarket study was conducted, aimed at employers. |
