| Abstract: | This chapter aims to provide an overview of the development of career counselling and guidance in Greece and to outline its organisation in both the education and labour market sectors. Importance is given to locating career guidance within the context of the major socio-economic, educational and cultural factors that have influenced its development. It moreover critically examines the impact of the economic crisis on Greek society in general, and on the implications for career guidance in particular. The chapter concludes by identifying some of the most pressing issues and challenges that all those involved in designing, delivering, and researching career guidance need to attend to, also providing some signposts for the improvement of the field. |
