Abstract: From the year 2006 the Maltese Tourism Industry has been injected by increases in number of both inbound and outbound tourism. Mainly the reason of this happening, came through the introduction of low-cost carriers operations to Malta. Giving further opportunities for travel through the implementation of the business model in the industry. Following the success of such investment in Malta, throughout the years has arisen the recognition of “over tourism”. Meaning that tourist areas started becoming overcrowded and various unpleasant effects within the tourism activity were present. The tourism activity would start to take shape into a more unsustainable measure more than ever. A good reaction to over tourism, would be engaging niche tourism. By attracting visitors with interests to visit the destination. Such action, deviate tourists from the usual traditional touristic areas. A niche that is present within Malta’s tourism industry is the segment for those interested in visiting Culture, hence Cultural tourists. Being able to recognise, that such factors are present within the current Maltese tourism industry. Having both variables combined would establish an interesting topic for research.
