Abstract: The research ‘Leadership skills and styles in the Maltese Tourism Profession’ is an initial study in the field of implementation of the leadership concept in the Maltese tourism companies that provides the platform for the further studies in this area. An intentional sample of the leaders was determined from the top-managers in tourism business located in both Malta and Russian Federation in order to examine, compare and contrast their leadership skills and styles. The study revealed that despite the fact that the obtained professional opinions cannot represent the entire professional society in the tourism business, there is the primary insight of the leadership skills and styles implementing by the tourism professionals in both countries. These specialists identify the essential leadership skills and prove the understanding of the general circumstances that form the particular leadership style. Although the current adapted leadership approach appears consistent, there is still might be some flaws, and so, the comparison analysis allows suggesting several recommendations for the future improvement.
