| Abstract: | This research study set out to gather information about the Travel agencies in Malta and how they have been effected by the development of the internet and online booking sites in order to find how have the Maltese agencies reacted to such changes and their relevance in this competitive market. Subsequent to a in depth analysis of the literature on the subject and the outcomes of the qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews, the results show that despite the Maltese travel agents have been effected by the surge of the internet they adopted new strategies in order to effectively use the internet to achieve a competitive edge. These findings suggest that the Maltese agencies have managed to incorporate and effectively use to their competitive advantage these new trends in the market and thus despite facing many challenges managed to survive by means of adaptation and innovation. |
