Abstract: The Commonwealth/World Bank Joint Task Force on Small States presented its final report to the Development Committee in April 20001 and to the Commonwealth Heads of Government in 2002. The report identified a focused small states agenda aimed at (a) tackling economic volatility, vulnerability, and natural disasters; (b) strengthening public and private sector capacity; (c) dealing with issues of transition to the changing global trade regime; and (d) examining new opportunities and addressing challenges arising from globalization. The Development Committee welcomed the report and supported the World Bank’s and IMF’s proposals for their future work programs on the issues of small states.
