Abstract: Lewis Portelli spent around fifty years in journalism and sports broadcasting. He was a producer and presenter on radio and television. Portelli travelled extensively covering international events and interviewing world top sports personalities and administrators. Lewis Portelli, who was the co-founder of the Sportswriters Association and Founder of the Sportsmanship Trophy - Malta, wrote several books dealing with the World Cup, the Olympic Games and the Games of the Small States of Europe and was the editor of The Football Year Book - Malta. In 1993, Lewis Portelli was decorated with the Midalja ghall-Qadi tar-Repubblika for his contribution to sport.
