Abstract: The fact that energy efficient buildings represent yearly a small percentage in relation to total building stock, points out that there are lot of buildings which are "squanderers" of energy and poor ecology environments - "ill" houses. Buildings refurbishment aimed to improve buildings energy performances is our duty in future. By application of active solar systems - solar thermal collectors, improvement of existing student housings can be obtained and reduction of energy demands and less emission of CO2 will be realized. Student housings are consumers of significant amount of hot water resulting in huge energy demands, consumption of conventional fuels and environment pollution. The case study shows different solutions of integration of solar thermal collectors on existing student housing in Belgrade and possible effects achieved by that, in sense of energy and ecology benefits. Results of simulations of solar thermal collectors application on selected student housing in Belgrade are presented in the paper. Also, comparison between Belgarde case study and the same hypothetical models in Athens, Munich, Oslo and Copenhagen, is shown in the paper.
