dc.description.abstractHousing legislation is one of the more important topics of the law because it is so intimately concerned with one of the most basic human·needs dwelling. Indeed, th~oughout the ages man always felt the need of a roof over his head. This need is felt no less today than it was by early mano Environment, circumstances, amenities, ways of life, indeed laws might have changed. The underlying problem as yet remains. Man has devised many ingenious ways of easing this problem, the most valid being the institute of lease. Any Housing Legislation is intimately concerned with fundamental legal notions such as the institute of lease, landlord-tenant relations, rights of ownership. and rights over property. Law is but a tool and not an end in itself and Housing Legislation provides the law-maker with a very versatile tool indeed at his disposal. This thesis will concentrate on an analysis of particular aspects of this versatile mechanism in the light of recent amendments.en_GB
