Abstract: The aim of the present paper is to analyze the changing patterns of travel. It examines Malta as a case study, focusing on the outbound travel sector markets. Data for this research was obtained at the Amitex travel fare in MFCC Ta` Qali. Interviews were conducted with 15 managers of different travel agencies. The results reveal that the current trend of outbound travel is considered to be still in its traditional form as half of the respondents stated that the most provided service Maltese residents opt for is 'package tours'. However, due to the internet evolution and the advent of low cost carriers another trend has been developing, the trend of dynamic packaging or the independent travel. This tendency can be considered as a treat for the traditional travel agencies therefore it was recommended that travel agencies should revamp and reinvigorate their business strategies to cater for the needs of different travelers. Particular emphasis was placed on the collaboration between the main stakeholders in the Tourism industry. It was also suggested that the airlines which operate in Malta can be seen as 'new' providers of holiday packages as their sophisticated websites are designed to offer all the necessary services a traveler would consider when going on holiday.
