Abstract: The study 'Leadership skills and styles in the Maltese Accounting Profession' is the first of its kind and opens up the doors to further research into the area. A purposeful sample of 10 accountants was chosen from the population of accounting professionals in Malta in order to determine their leadership skills and styles. The study found out that although these professionals' views and actions cannot be generalized with the entire population of accounting professionals in Malta, there are professionals who are aware of the importance of leadership. These professionals recognize certain skills, which are essential to leadership and that circumstances and people influence the style of leadership one adopts.
