Abstract: This qualitative study focuses on identifying gender issues in the production and consumption of art. It tries to make sense of gender implications in art production through the perceptions of female artists. Primarily, this study defines art sociologically. This study aims at giving a better explanation of the position of the female artist in the art world within a social structure, along with identifying the opportunities and constraints given to them. These changes are explained in the line with socio, economic and cultural changes that gave women more opportunities locally and in Western society. Moreover, this study examines the representation of both the female and the male‟s figure in art works. This study also focuses on other aspects such as how art reaches the general public. These aspects all contribute in allowing the researcher to explore more on the main aims and objectives of this study.
