Abstract: International Tourism has grown into one of the largest industries in the world economy. This industry is dependent on several factors, which are indispensable for its survival, however with the growth of mainstream tourism the damages and exploitations have grown significantly as well. Hence promotion of sustainable selfsufficient alternatives is essential. Tourism is mainly the enjoyment of authentic experiences away from home in the earth each and every one of us inherited. Awareness about these damages with the inclusion of responsive efforts should be a main priority, and this is why Tourism needs a holistic approach, which takes into consideration its developments in relation with the Earth’s ecosystems, resources, and social communities. This research study is primarily concerned with the impacts and benefits Permaculture can have on the tourism industry and the society, also how Tourism can aid in the promotion of sustainable alternatives. Different perspectives regarding the feasibility of Permaculture implementation into the tourism structure were also evaluated. The results obtained from the semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, were both qualitative and quantitative and these were analysed and grouped into themes. The research concluded that Permaculture is beneficial for the environment, the economy, the tourism industry as well as the social community, however it can never be successful without local collaboration, community contribution, promotion and specific market strategies. A major part of the general public is not aware of Permaculture, leading to the conclusion that it is not efficiently promoted in the Maltese structure. It was evident that a high percentage of individuals would be willing to explore Permacultures’ benefits and implement these practices accordingly. These also believed that implementation in the tourism industry is feasible.
