Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: Nowadays large enterprises and even small to medium businesses are adopting high quality business software which guarantees them substantial advantages, together with tools and methodologies that will eventually improve their position in the market and increase their competitive advantage. Two important and completely different types of software that are used by businesses are the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and the Content Management System (CMS). The growth and success of ERP adoption and development highly depends on the ERP system’s capability of extending to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and integrating with Internet-enabled applications like Web CMS. A Content Management System or Web CMS is a type of technology solution deployed on the Internet that is associated with the production, storage, and distribution of information. The scope of this thesis is made up of two parts. The first is to review and analyze information on how the implementation process of both ERP systems and CMS is done, and how these technology products are used in manufacturing firms. The second part is to describe, design and implement a solution that combines an ERP system with a CMS to give manufacturing firms the possibility of having these two important business software technologies integrated with each other.
