Abstract: Within the interwar period of Malta, there is undeveloped area of study which has yet to be established. Advertising in the interwar period of Malta in newspapers with a specialization on The Daily Malta Chronicle allows for this gap to begin to be filled. This dissertation develops the evolution of advertising within this period and as well through statistical data, promoting ideas which are connected with the advertising in The Daily Malta Chronicle. Another purpose of the dissertation is to begin to establish an understanding of advertising within the interwar period of Malta on a whole. This beginning will create a foreground for distant works to correlate with, compare against, criticise toward and furthermore create a developed understanding of advertising in this period. This dissertation only focuses on one newspaper and therefore research must continue within this area to create a stronger more elaborated conception of advertising within this period.
