| Abstract: | In this dissertation, I have decided to focus on the life of Pope Pius XII as analysed by Rai 3 'La Grande Storia' series of documentaries. Since the death of Pope Pius XII in 1958, I am the first Maltese student studying Theology in the University of Malta that decided to focus my dissertation on this particular pope. My aim is to critically understand the professional documentary aired on Rai 3 on the life of Pius XII, and then through the use of additional books and media, critically reflect the events and incidents which happened during the Pontificate of Pius XII. The dissertation will be in the form of a journey; reflecting on the historical context that Pius XII found himself before he was even born and then his ascend to the throne of Peter. |
