Educationally Subnormal children (E.S.N.) are still finding it difficult to integrate within society. There seems to be an obstacle within society itself that is keeping them from living a normal life. This is a serious problem which is also hindering the child in the Home, while at the same time causing a problem for the Home authorities. E.S.N. children need special care. They need to be helped to develop and to join in their peer groups rather than remain labeled subnormal for the rest of their lives. The Homes and school are still trying to find a way how to help these special children. In order to achieve in their goal, they need special training and most of all a partnership as equals between the Homes and school, together with the very children and their parents - who are often ignored in decision making. One must remember that E.S.N. children are not in need of special care simply through love and understanding, but professional sevices to help them improve in their skills. Thus professionally trianed staff are essential.en_GB
