Podiatry Department celebrates 20 years of education at BSc (Hons) level

The Department of Podiatry, Faculty of Health Sciences at UM this year celebrates 20 years of Podiatry education at BSc (Hons) level.

This anniversary was celebrated at the Cavallieri Hotel on Friday 10 October during an event organised by the Association of Podiatrists in Malta.

During this event, various talks were given by the president of the association, Mr Luke Saliba, alumni of the same Department, visiting senior  lecturer at UM, Dr Mark Price, who to date still teaches Podiatric Surgery on the programme, Mr Dave Dunning who in the past taught Clinical Biomechanics, and the Head of Department Professor Cynthia Formosa who during her speech highlighted the journey that the Department has gone through during the past 20 years.

Prof. Formosa thanked all academics at UM who have contributed to this programme, namely Professor Alfred Gatt and  Dr Stephen Mizzi who from the start of this programme has helped the department grow.

She also thanked all visiting lectures and clinical mentors who have offered their services with the department. The Department today offers postgraduate degrees at both Masters and PhD level.

Prof. Formosa stated that the Department will continue to strive hard to remain a centre of excellence in Podiatry Education in Europe.
