Publication of Volume 20, Issue 1 of the Malta Review of Educational Research

The Malta Review of Educational Research (MRER) has published Volume 20, Number 1, marking another important milestone in the journal’s twentieth-anniversary year.

This substantial issue reflects the journal’s increasingly broad thematic and international reach. A major section is devoted to Home Economics, nutrition education, sustainability and community engagement, with contributions addressing the Mediterranean diet, food practices and waste, culinary and nutrition education, sustainable behaviour, the changing identity of Home Economics, and its potential for transdisciplinary learning. The research extends beyond Malta to include work from Morocco, Slovenia and Egypt, reinforcing MRER’s international orientation.

The issue also engages with several pressing contemporary educational and social questions. Contributions examine the linguistic landscape of the University of Malta, teachers’ role in developing digital trust and ethical engagement with artificial intelligence, gender and the motherhood penalty in higher education, and parental engagement in Maltese State Colleges. Commentaries further extend the conversation to linguistic capital, bilingualism and communicative mediation in Malta. The issue concludes with a book review on inclusion in linguistics.
