The project, funded by the KA220-HED - Cooperation partnerships in higher education of Erasmus+, addresses the digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity, stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices.
The objective is to use movement analysis as an important part of clients’ rehabilitation process and educate future professionals’ preparedness for the use of online technologies and AI in rehabilitation.
Furthermore, its aim is to strengthen co-operation between HEIs and relevant stakeholders to connect them to the possibilities offered by new technologies in learning, teaching and research, including improving digital readiness among students and teachers.
The lead partners are from Finland, with other partner universities from Iceland, Denmark, and Malta. At the University of Malta (UM), Prof. Cynthia Formosa
Educational activities, meetings, research activities and development plans will support the development of an online platform to support high qualitative movement analysis in the EU.
The digital learning platform will be chosen and developed, and virtual laboratory tours, learning materials, micro-credential courses and AI-driven tools for learning movement analysis online will be co-created and piloted with students, teachers, lifelong learners and relevant stakeholders.
The University of Malta had the honour of hosting the 3rd in person meeting at the Faculty of Health Sciences on 30 and 31 October 2025.
During this two-day meeting, various discussions took place with regards to the progress of this project.
Furthermore, as one of the project's requirements, the Podiatry Department at FHS had the opportunity to showcase the various equipment and research being conducted inside the Clinical Biomechanics Laboratory.
Mr Dareen Sillatto together with a group of third-year Podiatry students demonstrated instrumented gait analysis as part of 'good practices' conducted inside each institution.
The next in-person meeting will be held in Denmark in March 2026.
