The Junior College hosted its annual Hello Freshers! Fair from 28 September to 2 October, welcoming students to a week of activities, information and opportunities designed to help them make the most of their College experience.
Held in the JC Foyer, the week-long event brought together College services, student societies and a range of external organisations, giving students the chance to discover the support, services and opportunities available to them during their time at JC. With exhibitors changing throughout the week, students were encouraged to visit the fair more than once to discover what was on offer, while also picking up exclusive goodies and enjoying the activities taking place.
The Fair also welcomed a number of distinguished visitors, including Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives Carmelo Abela; H.E. President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca; Hon. Dr Alex Borg, Leader of the Opposition; Hon. Jerome Caruana Cilia, Shadow Minister for Education and Citizenship; Commissioner for Education and Chief Justice Emeritus Vincent De Gaetano; Hon. Eve Borg Bonello, Shadow Minister for Youth, Wellbeing and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme; Hon. Byron Camilleri, Minister for Education and Sport; Hon. Julia Farrugia, Minister for Inclusion & the Voluntary Sector, Prof. Frank Bezzina, Rector of the University of Malta, Prof. Vincent Cassar, Pro-Rector for Strategic Implementation & Sustainability at the University of Malta, and Hon. Omar Farrugia, Minister for Youth, Wellbeing and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme.
Their visits provided an opportunity to meet students, exhibitors and members of the College community and to see first-hand the range of activities taking place during the Fair.
The guests were welcomed by Mr Paul Xuereb, Principal of the Junior College; Professor Emanuel Said, Chair of the Junior College Board; and Dr Glorianne Borg Axisa and Dr Patricia Vella Briffa, both Senior Lecturers at the Junior College.
The Hello Freshers! Fair once again provided a lively start to the academic year, helping students become more familiar with the College community and the many opportunities available to them beyond the classroom.
