The Chemistry Department at G.F. Abela Junior College is pleased to introduce Chemistry Launchpad, a five-week enrichment programme designed to strengthen students' understanding of the fundamental concepts and skills upon which further learning in Chemistry depends.
Whether you are studying Chemistry at Advanced or Intermediate Level, or simply have an interest in the subject, this programme offers an opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence in a supportive learning environment.
Through guided activities and problem-solving exercises, students will explore:
- Chemical symbols, formulae and ionic charges.
- How and why chemical species combine in particular proportions.
- Constructing and balancing chemical equations.
- Understanding the mole concept.
- Applying mathematical skills to fundamental chemical calculations.
The emphasis will be on understanding chemical principles rather than simply memorising rules and formulae, helping students approach Chemistry with greater confidence and independence.

Duration: Five weeks (10 hours)
The programme is open to all interested Junior College students. No advanced prior knowledge of Chemistry is required.
