Maltese course for waste service workers

Two groups of WasteServ employees recently completed a 28-hour Maltese language course tailored to their specific needs, delivered by the University's Department of Maltese.

The lessons were conducted by Mr Gabriel Mizzi (pictured centre), designed with the assistance of Prof. George Farrugia, and developed in full collaboration with colleagues from WasteServ's Human Resources Department.

Mr Mizzi congratulated all the employees who successfully completed the course, stating how proud he was of them all. For his part, Mr Richard Bilocca, CEO of WasteServ, who presented the certificates, noted that "The full commitment of Mr Gabriel Mizzi was crucial to ensuring this course was well-received by the employees and ultimately a success."

The lessons were held at the ECOHIVE Complex in Magħtab. In the coming weeks, another two groups of workers will begin their Maltese language classes.

Prof. Adrian Grima, Head of the Department of Maltese, noted that this initiative is part of the commitment of the University of Malta and the Department toward strengthening the knowledge of written and spoken Maltese within the community. He also commended WasteServ for its continuous commitment to employee training.

This project was initiated by Mr Richard Bilocca and Dr Colin Borg, Academic Registrar of the University.

The Department of Maltese worked closely with WasteServ's officers in charge of human resources and training, particularly Ms Alexia Spiteri and Ms Chantelle Seguna, and the management and administrative staff at the University of Malta.
