Mother’s Day across languages

The word ‘mother’ appears in many expressions across different languages, often used to convey strong emotions and reactions. The importance of mothers is frequently reflected in the way people speak and express themselves.

For Mother’s Day, members of UM staff came together to share expressions containing the word ‘mother’ in Maltese, Spanish, Italian and Tunisian. These sayings are commonly used in moments of fear, excitement, surprise and more.

Through this initiative, UM celebrated both Mother’s Day and the cultural diversity within our community.
