UM Wolves RFC hit the ground running with unbeaten start to 2026

UM Wolves RFC have hit the ground running in the New Year, with both the club’s Men’s Team and Women’s Team registering unbeaten starts to 2026.

The Men’s Team sailed past Stompers RFC with a comfortable 82 to 7 scoreline last Saturday, as they continued their campaign to try and retain the league title for another year.

They now have three wins from three games this season and sit in second place – although the club sitting above them have played two games more.

Two-thirds of the Men’s matchday squad of 23 players for this match were also home-grown, including several players who are University of Malta students and who have graduated through the clubs fledgling academy system from G.F. Abela Junior College.

They now face Kavallieri RFC in another league match on Saturday at 13:30 at the Marsa Rugby Grounds.

The club’s Women’s Team meanwhile has had a strong start to 2026 as well and are unbeaten across two weekends played this year so far.

They started the year off with a 20-5 win over title contenders Stompers RFC, and continued their form with a strong 52-0 win over Kavallieri RFC and then a comeback 12-12 draw against Stompers last Saturday.

Their performance has been enough to see them move to the top of the league standings with almost half of the season played.

The Women’s Team are aiming to emulate their success in the last two seasons, where they won the MRFU Women’s League.

They return to action on Saturday 7 February.
