CERIC-ERIC Call for Proposals – Coordinated Access (Materials, Biomaterials & Nanotechnology)
CERIC-ERIC invites proposals for coordinated access to 60+ instruments and support laboratories across its partner facilities, supporting research in materials, biomaterials, and nanotechnology. The call is open worldwide. Users may request multiple techniques via a single application, and mobility support is available (subject to CERIC rules).
1) How to apply (VUO)
Submit your proposal via the Virtual Unified Office (VUO) website.
In the VUO, select “Submit a new CERIC proposal”.
2) Deadlines (two-step submission)
o 3 March 2026, 17:00 CET – Pre-evaluation deadline (recommended to receive feedback and improve the proposal)
o 31 March 2026, 17:00 CEST – Final submission (recommended only for users already expert in all requested techniques)
3) Facility availability and notes for this call
A) Available facilities (continue to offer access)
B) Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste– beamlines not available; offline access remains
Due to the Elettra 2.0 installation/maintenance,
o IUVS-Offline – Inelastic Ultraviolet Scattering Offline laboratory
o SISSI-Bio OFF-line – Offline Synchrotron Infrared Source (Chemistry & Life Science)
o MSB (Czech Materials Science Beamline) – offline photoemission using dual-anode (Mg/Al) X-ray lamp; end-station facilities remain available—contact local staff before submission.
C) Ruđer Bošković Institute (Croatia) – access impacted by upgrade
The ion beam facility at the Ruđer Bošković Institute is undergoing a major upgrade and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year. Accepted proposals will be able to perform experiments at the earliest from the end of 2026.
