EIT RIB Malta Edition

Xjenza Malta and the EIT launch New Growth Programme for Ambitious Maltese Startups.

Maltese startups looking to scale beyond the local market now have access to a new initiative aimed at supporting scaling up and growth. Launched through a collaboration between Xjenza Malta and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), the EIT Regional Innovation Booster (EIT RIB) Malta Edition will support startups and SMEs as they prepare to enter new European markets and strengthen their commercial growth strategies.

The programme forms part of a wider European effort to strengthen innovation ecosystems in emerging regions by connecting businesses with expertise, networks and opportunities across the continent.

Participating entities will receive tailored support focused on scaling up. This support includes access to mentors, market experts and the EIT's network of Knowledge and Innovation Communities. The programme will focus on helping startups assess market opportunities, refine their expansion plans and establish connections in target markets including Germany, France and Italy.

In addition to strategic support, selected participants will also be eligible for financial assistance throughout the programme. The highest-performing companies could access up to EUR 90,000 in funding across different stages of the initiative, helping them undertake activities linked to market expansion, commercialisation and business development.

The programme is open to Malta-based startups and SMEs operating in areas such as digital technologies, healthcare, food and agritech, energy, climate innovation, urban mobility and the creative industries.

As Malta continues to develop its innovation ecosystem, initiatives such as EIT RIB provide local companies with greater access to international networks, expertise and growth opportunities that can support their expansion beyond the domestic market.

Applications for the EIT Regional Innovation Booster Malta Edition are open until 15 July 2026.
