Dr Jacqueline Żammit, Senior lecturer within the Faculty of Education, Department of Languages and Humanities in Education at the University of Malta, has been honoured with two prestigious Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards 2026 in recognition of her outstanding service to the international academic community through her work with the journal Humanities and Social Sciences Communications. Dr Żammit received both the Editorial Contribution Award and the Author Service Award, recognising her exceptional commitment to maintaining high editorial standards and supporting authors throughout the publication process.
The Editorial Contribution Award is presented to editors who rank among the top 20% of Springer Nature’s editorial community for their careful evaluation of manuscripts, effective management of the peer-review process, and stewardship of academic quality. The Author Service Award recognises editors who rank among the top 20% for time to first decision, highlighting their dedication to providing authors with an efficient, constructive, and fair publication experience.
In a letter announcing the awards, Springer Nature described Dr Żammit’s dedication to her journal and research community as “truly inspiring”, noting that her efforts in supporting authors, expanding academic networks, and advancing scholarly discovery play a vital role in the development of research within the humanities and social sciences.
These awards acknowledge the significant contribution editors make to ensuring the quality, integrity, and impact of academic publishing.
