Claudette Buttigieg is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Research, Innovation & Development Trust (RIDT) at the University of Malta.
She succeeds Wilfred Kenely, who had been in the post since RIDT was established back in 2011.
RIDT was established to support and expand high-quality research and innovation at the University of Malta. It acts as a bridge between the university and the wider community by attracting financial support from private individuals, companies and foundations and directing those funds into research projects that benefit society.
RIDT has helped fund a wide range of endeavours, from health and climate-related PhD scholarships to engineering, space research, art conservation, and community services like a mobile dental clinic, while also raising public awareness about the importance of research and innovation for Malta’s future.
Buttigieg previously served as Senior Executive Officer for the same organisation.
