Sonia Young: A broadcaster with over 33 years of experience

A broadcaster with over 33 years of experience in producing and presenting radio programmes, including magazine programmes, discussions on social topics, and subjects of general interest.

Sonia Young joined the Campus 103.7 team in the summer of 2022. Her programmes by the name ‘Campus Magazine’ are transmitted every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10:00 and 12:00. The aim is to connect listeners with professionals from all walks of life. Subjects include topics related to wellbeing, animal welfare, mental health and various other discussions of interest to Campus 103.7 listeners, who are invited to participate directly during the programme.

Sonia also produces and presents special programmes related to particular events in Malta such as Christmas/Good Friday and Easter.

She has a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and throughout her career, she has consistently worked to raise awareness against animal cruelty and promote their dignified care. In this respect she was twice awarded for Best Animal Welfare Programme by the International Animal Rescue Malta.

Sonia was co-founder of the annual marathon on New Year’s day in aid of Dar tal-Providenza.  In July 2017 the Ta’ Xbiex Local Council chose to honour her with the Gieħ Ta’ Xbiex award. On the 13 December 2025 she was awarded the medal for the ‘Qadi tar-Reppublika’.
