The Strength of a Community: University of Malta Raises Record €18,000 for L-Istrina and id-Dar tal-Providenza

The strength and generosity of the University of Malta community shone brightly this festive season, as staff and students came together to raise a record-breaking €18,000 through the Christmas on Campus Programme 2025.

Held under the theme Peace on Earth, the 2025 programme featured a diverse calendar of activities designed to foster unity and give back to the wider community. Events included daily entertainment at the Quadrangle, thrift shops, bake sales, cultural tours for staff and students, movie nights, a workshop, a Christmas Novena, the sale of olive oil harvested by UM staff, a staff recognition ceremony, a bingo event, and many more.

Throughout the month of December, members of the UM community actively participated in these initiatives and contributed generously via SMS and Revolut donations, helping to achieve this remarkable fundraising milestone.

Over the years, Christmas on Campus has become a cherished annual tradition at the University of Malta, bringing together the entire university community to celebrate the true spirit of the season: one rooted in solidarity, generosity, and compassion.

The funds raised were divided equally into two donations of €9,000 each. One cheque was presented to L-Istrina during the annual televised fundraising marathon on Boxing Day 2025, while the second was donated to id-Dar tal-Providenza during the Festa ta’ Ġenerożità marathon on New Year’s Day 2026.

The University extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who dedicated their time, energy, and skills to organise and support the many activities that made this initiative such a success.

Here’s to a year ahead filled with purpose, generosity, and continued community spirit.
