UM students and artistic swimmers Emily and Valentina share their journey

Meet Emily and Valentina, two current UM students with a common passion. 

Emily, who is 18, is a student within the Faculty for Medicine and Surgery, whereas Valentina, who is 21, is pursuing a Masters of Teaching and Learning in Physical Education. 

They are both part of the synchronised swimming group, SynchroKnights, which represented Malta in the prestigious Hungarian Cup in November of 2025. And both came back from this experience with awards. 

While Emily won first place in the Senior Women Free Solo, and second place in Junior Women Free Solo, Valentina won second place in Junior Women Free Solo.

They are hoping that these victories, as well as their recent interview with Newspoint, will fuel a surge in interest in artistic swimming in Malta.
